Heinrich Georg (UK) have been assisting an aerospace client in the development of a unique, generic electronic control panel that will work with different testing rigs.
Martin Summers, manager of Georg UK’s Test Rig division, explains: “There are hundreds of rigs around the world that use outdated bespoke analogue control systems incapable of being updated with state of the art, modern, off the shelf products. We’ve been assisting in the design and development of a universal, generic electronic control system that will replace existing analogue systems and will integrate with the next generation of rigs.”
Whilst a single electronic control panel will work with different test rigs, each can be programmed to perform specific tasks for individual test rig requirements.
The generic electronic control system has been optimised for updates with future test developments through the use of interchangeable standard products. It is hoped that users of this new universal control system will benefit from greater reliability, performance levels and ultimately, cost savings.
Cutting Edge Project
Martin added: “It’s a very exciting, cutting edge project that will transform the Test Rig sector and has involved a great team effort by all staff involved.”
Georg UK’s specific role in this project has been to validate that the control system conforms to all relevant quality and CE marking standards at design, development and build stages.
Georg UK won the contract due to their strong technical skills in this field, their impressive on-site technical facilities, and their reputation for getting a job right and delivering a solution.
The project has been six months in development with further new product developments planned.
