Heinrich Georg UK are pleased to announce the completion of a refurbishment and certification project for MANN+HUMMEL.
Three production machines were transferred between manufacturing sites by MANN+HUMMEL. En-route, the machines spent time at Georg UK’s facility in Wolverhampton, where a comprehensive review, refurbishment and full UKCA certification process was carried out.
Compliance with current safety standards
The machines, consisting of one welder and two leak-detection units, had a variety of upgrades implemented to make them compliant with current safety standards, including:
- Addition of operator guarding
- Upgrades to interlock switching
- Addition of safety bump stops
- Addition of double block-and-bleed pneumatic valves
- Addition of safety PLC, replacing existing safety relays
- Full electrical wiring check and tidy
- Completion of a formal risk assessment on all functions
- Systema calculations to confirm the system meets the required PL safety rating
- Production of new pneumatic circuit drawings
- Production of new electrical wiring drawings
- Production of new O & M Manual
- Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), commissioning, and hand-over in collaboration with end-users
The above activities lead to Georg UK being able to issue all machinery with new UKCA certification.
