Graduate Partnership with City of Wolverhampton College
general

Georg UK are pleased to be partnering with City of Wolverhampton College by taking on two apprentices.

One apprentice will work in our busy Design office where they will learn about the engineering design process including concept design, scoping, calculations and engineering documentation such as technical drawings, parts lists, operating manuals etc.

The second apprentice will work on our Shop floor and will learn relevant skills relating to our best practice in mechanical assembly, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, electrical assembly, lifting and slinging, crane and forklift operations as well as manufacturing practices including welding and machining.

Neil Wyke, managing director at Georg UK, said: “I have seen many changes in the engineering sector in my 40 year career including the loss of traditional skills and knowledge from the sector in the late 1980s and 1990s. However, with new innovations and technology we are now seeing an increase in people keen to work in engineering with more students taking science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) subjects at colleges and universities.”

“Georg UK has a healthy order book and our two new graduates will support our business growth by providing additional resources to work on our planned projects, strengthening our engineering team.”

City of Wolverhampton College is the training provider and will help Georg UK to recruit the suitable candidates.

Shelley Kenny, account manager at City of Wolverhampton College, said: “Apprenticeships are a great way for people to learn on-the-job instead of just in a classroom. By combining working alongside experienced colleagues in a workplace with some study time at college, these schemes offer apprentices a great foundation to start their careers.”
