Neil Wyke, Managing Director at Georg UK, announced his retirement on 28th August 2026 after over 20 years in charge.
Neil joined Georg UK in 1996, meaning that this year also marks his 30th anniversary with the company.
After completing further education in 1981, Neil joined the Sabre Designs draughting apprenticeship scheme to learn the basics of technical drawing and mechanical design.
Taken on as a trainee draughtsman, Neil spent five years gaining on-the-job experience, both in-house and on-site, at companies such as British Rail Engineering, Durmech Coil Process Machinery and British Federal Special Purpose Welding.
In 1986 Neil joined Stamco Coil Process Engineering Ltd as a Design Engineer working on steel and aluminium finishing line projects in both the UK and Europe. It was from here that Neil progressed into project management, overseeing slitting and blanking line projects.
After initially joining Georg UK as a Design and Project Manager in 1996, working with teams in the UK and Germany on projects in Europe and USA, Neil took overall control of UK operations as Managing Director in 2002.
Reflecting on his career, Neil said:
“At the very beginning of my time at Georg I came across the biggest influence in my working life, Mr. Adalbert Siedel, Senior Engineer of Coil Processing at Georg. I worked for and with Mr. Siedel on many projects and his knowledge and experience, together with the respect he commanded both in Georg and its customers, was immense. I quickly learned “the Georg Way” and made this my blueprint for Georg UK when I took over from another major influence, Mr. Tony Richards as MD in 2002.
“The “Georg Way” was ingrained in me, striving for the best quality, service, and technology. This mantra continues to drive all that we do in the UK, from the technical sales, the workshop/showroom to the handover of projects to customers and after-sales support. We must continue to ensure that customers aspire to Georg solutions and enjoy the welcoming approach and engaging process of working with us.”
Andy Cheadle, Neil’s successor as Managing Director at Georg UK, said:
“Under Neil’s leadership and guidance, Georg UK has developed into the company that it is today: a renowned supplier of innovative engineering solutions, always striving to provide customers with the latest technologies and service. For over 20-years, Neil has set the standards that we all adhere to and that we will continue to uphold. Georg UK would not be the company it is today if it wasn’t for Neil and we are all extremely grateful for the dedication, trust and leadership that he given to us all. We will all miss him but wish him nothing but the best for a happy retirement.”
As part of the company’s succession planning, Neil has been supporting the new leadership team in 2026 of Andy Cheadle (Managing Director), Andrew Logie (Operations Director) and Simon Jones (Technical Director), ensuring a smooth handover of responsibilities and knowledge, thus providing Georg UK with the platform to continue its growth into a new era.
