A long term project to update a customer’s Slitting line to improve quality and productivity continues to be delivered at a pace with phased installations and on-site works planned during the customer’s key factory shutdowns.

Phase 2, which saw the installation of a new slitter machine into an existing line during the customer’s Christmas closure, will help to improve the quality of the material being slit, enable thicker gauge and higher strength materials to be processed and reduce operator tool change-over times.

The team at Georg UK are now working on Phase 3 which focuses on rewind and coil handling machinery which will be installed over Easter 2019. We are also building a scrap chopper – the first automated machine of this type in the UK – which we will deliver as part of Phase 4 and is scheduled to be installed over Christmas 2019 closure.
