With customers in the R&D, academia, aerospace, rail and automotive sectors, Heinrich Georg (UK) Ltd is regarded as one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of innovative, special purpose dynamometer test rigs for electric motor testing.
The company is seeing an increase in enquiries for the design and build of dynamometer test rigs as the growth in the electric vehicle market increases. Their dynamometers test the performance of electric motors under loads, measuring the mechanical power torque. The programmable test rigs incorporate state-of-the-art torque sensors with dual torque outputs and speed measurement.
Key features of the dynamometers include:
- Load profiles with seamless switching from regen to motoring
- 4 quadrant drive system
- Torque cell with dual torque outputs and speed measurement
- Vibration, temperature and power consumption monitoring
- Water, air and oil cooling options
- Scan rates of up to 10KHz
- Speeds up to 30,000rpm
- Power from 1kw to 1000kw plus
- Battery storage / thermal dissipation
- Automatic or manual control
- And more
The dynamometer test rigs are built and tested in-house at Georg where the machine simulates the exact installation conditions before delivery and commissioning with customers. Virtual commissioning is also available.
Recent projects have included a test stand that housed five dynamometer test beds, a test rig that assesses off-the-shelf battery powered small motors, and test rigs for testing motors and generators up to 1MW speed from 2,500-30,000rpm.
